Greetings! Thank you for visiting our Dream it. Do. It. South Dakota page.  Let us begin by introducing ourselves.  We are South Dakota Manufacturing & Technology Solutions, an organization founded by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.  Our mission is to help small to mid-sized manufacturers in South Dakota prosper and grow.  To do this, we consult with companies in areas of strategic planning, lean enterprise, process improvement, plant layout, training, collaborative robots (cobots) and more.

One of the biggest challenges South Dakota manufacturers face today is workforce and developing a strong pipeline for the future.  Oftentimes, people are either uninterested in manufacturing or do not have the proper skills needed for the job. With appropriate training and career image5awareness opportunities, we can strengthen and build powerful industry talent all across the state!

We want to introduce middle school students to the innovative world of manufacturing in a fun, interactive way!  Every fall we host an exciting video contest to give students the opportunity to learn more about manufacturing and the different career paths involved.

While the video contest is a great start to the vision, it is only the beginning!  We have big plans for the future and look forward to unveiling more ideas, projects and programs as time goes on.

We want to thank everyone involved in the video contest this year and extend an invitation to those interested in getting involved next year.

Curious what others have been saying?

“This has truly been an authentic, real-world learning opportunity for my students.” (Jeff Sand, Mt. Vernon teacher)

“This was an excellent learning opportunity for our students!” (Tricia Holland, De Smet teacher)

“It provides him with a unique perspective into opportunities he may not otherwise be aware of.” (Yankton parent)

“I would like him to participate again.  He learned a lot about video production, time management, and teamwork.  It was a great experience for him.” (Harrisburg South parent)
